1- Market information
On the morning of July 16, 2023, in New Zealand, British Minister of Business and Trade Kemi Badenoch officially signed an agreement to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), bringing Britain becomes a new member of the trade bloc of 12 economies.
During the trading session on July 14, the Yen increased in price by 0.14% against the US dollar, to 138.2 JPY per USD. Japan’s domestic currency has strengthened for the 7th consecutive session, heading for the longest streak of increases since 2018. Currently, the exchange rate is equivalent to the level in mid-May.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has just announced that the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June increased by 3% over the same period last year. This pace has slowed for the 12th consecutive month. Core inflation increased by 4.8% – the slowest since the end of 2021. However, this rate is still higher than the Fed’s target of 2%.
On July 13, the Hanoi Stock Exchange provided some introductory information about the individual corporate bond trading system, confirming that it has completed the construction of the private corporate bond trading system in the first phase. Phase 1 and ready all technical conditions for official operation.
2- Gold market
World gold prices had their best trading week since April thanks to the prospect that the Fed will stop raising interest rates after July. Closing the trading session at 1,954.3 USD/ounce, an increase of 1.5%. Domestically, SJC gold prices fluctuated in the same direction, increasing slightly by 50,000 – 300,000 VND/tael. Specifically, DOJI Group is listing the buying and selling price of SJC gold at 66.55 – 67.25 million VND/tael. Other types of gold jewelry remained stable and moved sideways during the weekend.
